What is an Air to Air Heat Pump?

An air to air heat pump works exactly the same as your fridge/freezer works, but in reverse.  A compressor mounted outside will pump refrigerant gas through the system taking the heat from outside and blowing it into the room that you need it. Much like the back of your freezer will be very warm and the inside very cold, an air to air heat pump will be very cold outside and very warm inside.  By extracting heat from the outside air, it is not using as much energy as it is putting out, for every 1Kw of electric that the system uses to power the compressor, as much as 3.5Kw of heat is being pumped into the room, making an air to air heat pump up to 350% efficient
