CITB Safe Handling of Refrigerants Certificate (2 Day)
This 2 day course leads to CITB certification
in the safe handling of refrigerants.
On completion you will be allowed to register with ACRIB (The Air
Conditioning and Refrigeration
Industry Board). The course is
essential for anybody who is connected with the use and application
of refrigerant gasses as it covers all the legal and environmental
implications associated with refrigerants. In July 2008 it
will be illegal to install any air conditioning equipment
without this certificate.
What’s Covered:
The first day of the course is split into 80% theory and 20% practical. You will cover the various types of refrigerants and their applications. This includes both traditional and latest alternative types such as zeotropes. Environmental implications are covered in detail including affects on the ozone layer, UV radiation and global warming. All legal topics such as the Montreal Protocol, Kyoto Protocol, British Standards and The Environmental Protection Act are covered in detail. Legal liabilities and responsibilities are explained clearly and precisely. Day 1 also includes hands on practical demonstration of safe refrigerant recovery.
Day 2 follows on from the practical side of Day 1, offering students the opportunity to learn safe techniques in refrigerant recovery, also calculating refrigerant cylinder capacities. You will pressure test live working systems to relevant standards, as well as evacuating and re-charging systems with refrigerant. Various leak detection methods will also be covered. A practical assessment will be carried out through the duration of the course and an open book written assessment will conclude Day two.
On completion students will be able to demonstrate competence in the safe handling of refrigerants, with minimum loss to atmosphere, explain the environmental impacts of refrigerants and have a complete understanding of the legal implications involved.
The cost of this 2 day course cost is £275.00 + VAT and will include tea/coffee and a lunchtime snack. Dates for 2008 are below:
