F-Gas Category 2 Training

Who needs to take the F-Gas Category 2 Training Course?

This course is aimed at people with little or no previous air conditioning experience who have a good solid background in another building trade.  This air conditioner course will take people from knowing nothing about air conditioning and bring them up to current level of qualification, allowing them to legally work on air conditioning systems.  This course would most be suited for people who are looking to become air con engineers and want to get started working on units with up to 3Kg of gas inside them (6Kg if hermiticaly sealed) this will limit an air con engineer work on a typical split air conditioning system.  No previous knowledge of pressure enthalpy charts or the refrigeration cycle is required to take this course (any previous knowledge will always help though!)

What is involved in the F-Gas Category 2 Training Course?

  • Fabricate & fit mechanical and brazed joints
  • Pressure test and evacuate to BSEN378
  • Charge a blended refrigerant
  • Analyse system performance to ensure efficiency
  • Leak test to EC1516/2007
  • Maintain ‘F Gas’ log books and recordsHandle refrigerant safely & dispose of legally
  • Ensure systems are leak tight, efficient in their use of energy and meet the F Gas legal requirements

Why should I take the F-Gas Category 2 Training Course?

Taken from the ACRIB website

"ACRIB F Gas Implementation Group is taking a lead on working with UK Government on the implementation of the European Fluorinated Gases Regulation which came into force on 4th July 2007. It introduced new requirements for leak checking procedures, labelling of new equipment, reporting of production and training and certification of individuals and companies.   The UK has adopted the CITB/CSkills J11-14 as the DEFRA recognised F Gas Qualification.  Everyone working within scope of these regulations must have achieved their F Gas Qualification by 4th July 2011."

This means that anyone working with the recovery and charging of an air conditioning system will be working illegally.  By getting this qualification any refrigeration engineer handling refrigerants will be well within the scope of the law.

Where are the F-Gas Category 2 Training Courses held?

All of the Aircon Courses are held in our head offices in Bridgend, South Wales.  We have eight purpose built training rigs here and can provide all of the facilities you would expect from a training centre - free tea and coffee and lunch included with the course.  We don't have any satelite centres so we can continually monitor the quality of our courses and ensure that they are run to our best potential.

We do get a very good rate with a local hotel if you are booking a course from somewhere too far away to commute every day.

When is the next F-Gas Category 2 Training Course?

Course Dates are listed on the F-Gas Category 2 Training Page, if the dates are not suitable for you then give us a call, we are quite flexible with our dates and may be able to work something out for a group booking or if we receive enough enquiries for a certain date.

How can I book myself onto a F-Gas Category 2 Training Course?
