Installation Info

The below information is a general guide and not for any specific air con unit, please use the manufactures specifications/installation instructions supplied with your purchased product for minimum specifications dimension requirements or speak with your F-GAS registered engineer.

The reason these systems are called EASY-FIT is because they come with the pipework and interconnecting cables to perform a standard installation (not including brackets).

Please note - These units still need to be installed (or commissioned) by an F-GAS registered engineer.

The Easy-Fit unit is the same as all other split-type systems with regards to the power supply, as the systems require a power supply to the outdoor unit, which in turn powers the indoor unit.

For the electrical connection between the inside and outside units, a multi core cable is supplied with easy fit colour coded terminals.

Indoor Unit - Pre-checks

  • Ensure there is no source of heat or steam nearby.
  • Ensure there is nothing stopping the installation of the unit before drilling holes.
  • Do not mount above a shelf or a cupboard that could restrict air circulation.
  • For the unit to work effectively in cooling mode, it must be mounted 2m off the ground or above head height.
  • Make sure the installation wall is suitably secure.

Installation Of The Indoor Unit

  • Use four or more “+” type screws and suitable wall plugs to fasten the installation board/backing plate onto the wall. Keep it level in horizontal direction and perpendicular in vertical direction, otherwise it might cause water drips when air-conditioning system is running in cooling operation.
  • Drill 70mm diameter pipe hole at the left lower or right lower side of the installation board (depending on how you choose to locate the attached pipework). The hole should slant downwards slightly (through the wall).
  • Hang the indoor unit to the board/backing plate and make sure it sits central to the installation plate.
  • Push the machine towards the wall on the bottom left and bottom right side of the installation board until the unit 'clicks' into place on the installation plate.
  • Ensure condensate drain hose is correctly located and attached to the unit, then push all pipework through the pre-drilled 70mm hole in the wall.
  • Using the installation manual supplied by the system manufacturer, connect the electrical interconnect cable terminals to the correct terminals on the indoor unit.
  • From the outside, connect supplied pipework to the pipework coming from the (now) wall mounted indoor unit.

Check The Water Discharge of indoor unit

  • Take off the front casing of the indoor unit (also done for routine maintenance).
  • Check the water discharge by pouring a cup of water into condensate drain tray.
  • Check whether the water flows through the water discharge hole and outside via the connected pipework.

Note - If your unit does not have an easily removeable front cover or a visible water drain tray, it can be much easier to open up the front cover and remove the filters as would be done for normal weekly maintenance, close the front cover and slowly pour a cup of water through the air inlet at the top of the unit on the left hand side, if the water is poured through on the right hand side there is a chance it will cause damage to the circuit board inside the unit.

Outdoor Unit - Pre-checks

  • If you errect a canopy to protect the unit from rain and sun, DO NOT obstruct the heating dispersion for the condenser.
  • Don't keep animals or plants near the outdoor unit as the hot and cold air discharge will cause discomfort.
  • Make sure to have the distance specified in the installation manual (provided by each manufacturer) between ceiling, wall, furniture and other obstacles.
  • Do not mount near flammable gas tanks.
  • The mounting brackets/mounting plate or mounting feet for the unit must be secure, flat and level.
  • The outdoor unit must be secure, flat and level.

Installation Of The Outdoor Unit

  • The outdoor unit must be firmly fixed to avoid falling or movement of the pipework, in strong wind conditions
  • Install upon feet on a cement base or mounting slab or wall mounting backet if a wall mounted option is desired (brackets should have been mounted in advance).
  • If it is installed near the seaside or at a place high above the ground and with strong wind, the AC should be installed against the wall to ensure the normal operation of the fan (a wind blocking plate can be used).
  • If the unit is being mounted using wall brackets, the strength of the wall should be assessed to ensure the brackets will hold the unit correctly, anti-vibration feeet should be used to minimise noise transfer into the property from vibration.
  • Using the installation manual supplied by the system manufacturer, connect the electrical interconnect cable terminals to the correct terminals on the outdoor unit.
  • Connect the supplied pipework to the outdoor unit, but DO NOT open or touch any valves (if in doubt regarding valves, leave pipework disconnected)
  • You MUST employ services of F-GAS registered engineer to attach pipework, check connections and electrics and complete commission of the system.
